York Academy Regional Charter School recognizes that wellness and proper nutrition are related to students' physical well-being, growth, development, and readiness to learn. All foods available in the school during the school day are offered to students with consideration for promoting student health and reducing childhood obesity. Foods provided through the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Programs comply with federal nutrition standards under the School Meals Initiative.
 
Lunch Program
The school has a cafeteria that prepares nutritious meals daily. Lunches can be purchased by students and adults. Students may also bring a lunch from home and purchase milk or water in the cafeteria. The district maintains a closed lunch policy.
 
All parents of York Academy students can deposit money into an "account" to purchase meals and/or a la carte items through the Central York School District's point-of-sale system by visiting the website at http://www.pay4lunch.com/cafeprepay.aspx.  All students may participate in the breakfast and lunch program at the school. For the 2012-2013 school year,the  lunch price is $2.15 or $.40 for reduced and the breakfast is $1.10 or no charge for reduced.
 
Parents may join their children for lunch. If interested in doing so, please be sure to call the office ahead of time to make prior arrangements and to order an adult lunch.
 
Free and Reduced Lunch AND Free Milk/Kindergarten
York Academy Regional Charter School participates in the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program through Central York School District.  Students from families who qualify (under federal guidelines) can receive lunches and breakfasts free or at a reduced cost. Students qualifying for free and reduced lunches may purchase these meals through the point-of-sale system. Applications are available at the school office. These applications may be filed at any time throughout the school year for any family experiencing net income changes. All information is confidential; discrimination is not permitted in accordance with district, state and federal requirements. New applications must be submitted annually. Breakfast Program
Breakfast is served at the York Academy Regional Charter School. Students who qualify for free or reduced meals also qualify for breakfast. CAFETERIA PROCEDURE REGARDING STUDENTS' BREAKFAST AND LUNCH ACCOUNTS
Food Services 
York Academy Regional Charter School recognizes the fact that students require adequate, nourishing food and beverages in order to grow, learn, and maintain good health. Students shall be provided with adequate space and time to eat meals during the school day. Students shall be provided food services for school breakfasts and school lunches that meet the nutritional standards required by state and federal school breakfast and lunch programs.
 
School Meal Accounts
Individual accounts shall be assigned to each student for accounting purposes for the purchase of meals served in the school cafeteria. Parents are encouraged to put money "on account" for their child. Parents can monitor and add money to their child's account balance online through Cafe Pre-Pay (www.pay4lunch/cafeprepay.aspy). Parents may also pay by check made payable to YARCS Cafeteria or cash.
 
Any student who has a negative balance of $10.00 will receive a written notice. When the student reaches a negative balance of $80.00, they will NOT be allowed to charge their meals. These students will be given a cheese sandwich and a container of milk until the account is paid in full. No breakfast will be provided for students with a negative balance. Parents will have the option to pack their student's lunch.
