Background and History
The York Academy Regional Charter School is an outgrowth of work which began in York in 1996 when community partners invited urban expert David Rusk to study the problems facing York County, particularly the urban heart of the county. After receiving Rusk's recommendations, the founding partners established YorkCounts in 1999 with the goal of improving the quality of life in York County.
